Bio:

Mike serves as a trusted adviser to high potential leaders and groups to improve their leadership impact, collaboration, and productivity to drive business success and achieve personal fulfillment. He has coached in a variety of organizations, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to non-profits, and has worked with business owners and executives in financial services, insurance, healthcare and more. Mike works best with individuals and groups that have an intense desire to improve their leadership and function. Mike leverages evidence based coaching practices, his experience and education to prepare leaders to manage change, engage cross functional teams, and effectively influence organizational strategy. Mike’s coaching approach blends client’s strengths, areas for improvement, and business objectives to create, and execute on, a customized development plan.

Mike believes everyone deserves to discover themselves, achieve success, and become outstanding leaders. We draw inspiration from the quote, "To coach" comes from the root meaning, "to bring a person from where they are to where they want to be." (David Cottrell). Coaching is important to Mike because it supports people to think 'big' and take action to achieve goals and dreams. Coaching can be a transformative experience. What Mike values most about coachees/clients is how much they learn together. Coaching is a co-created process and it is an honor to be part of clients’ development journeys. Through coaching individuals become better leaders and because of this create better teams. Finally, when people are on better teams they are, more likely, to become involved in other activities that create better communities.

Mike has achieved a number of certifications over the course of his education and coaching experiences. These certifications include achieving the Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coach Federation (ICF) and the Board Certified Coach (BCC) through the Center for Credential & Education (CCE). Mike believes in ‘evidence-based coaching’ so has been certified in a number of assessments including the Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Strong Interest Inventory, Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI), Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation (FIRO), the California Psychological Inventory (CPI) and the Center for Creative Leadership’s 360 Feedback Tools. Mike’s education background includes an Organizational & Leadership Coaching Certificate from Â鶹ͷÌõ, an Ed.D. in Ethical Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University, and an MSA in Not-for-Profit Management from the University of Notre Dame. In addition, Mike has an MBA in Leadership & Organizational Change from San José State University and his undergraduate degree is a BSC in Business Administration from Santa Clara University.

In addition to Mike’s experience as a coach, he is currently a Professor of Organizational Leadership for the College of Business at Â鶹ͷÌõ. Â鶹ͷÌõ's Organizational Leadership program focuses on the human side of leadership in the workplace, teaching how people function and how leaders can help them reach their full potential. Some of the courses that Mike teaches include leadership theory, organizational design, and team development.
